"Striature di nero"
Ci illudevamo noi esseri umani
di essere ormai evoluti,
di aver imparato dagli orrori precedenti,
di essere ascesi a più elevate dimensioni.
-
Ma è evidente che non è così,
il sangue quotidiano lascia senza fiato,
noi, piccoli esseri inutili e impotenti
di fronte all’altrui agonia disperata.
-
Cerco di vivere la vita nella sua unicità,
cosciente delle oscurità,
di trarre gioia da ogni istante,
di perdermi nell’amore, le responsabilità e l’arte,
per non soccombere all’ombra pesante.
-
Ma ogni volta che vedo un bambino morire,
la mente si riempie di disgusto per il mondo,
e mi chiedo se abbia avuto senso
aver portato altri figli in questo sfondo.

"Streaks of black"
We humans deceived ourselves
into believing we had evolved,
that we had learned from past horrors,
that we had ascended to higher dimensions.
-
But it is clear we have not.
The daily bloodshed leaves us breathless,
we, small, useless, and powerless beings
before the desperate agony of others.
-
I try to live life in its uniqueness,
aware of the darkness,
to draw joy from every moment,
to lose myself in love, in responsibilities, in art,
to resist the heavy shadow’s grasp.
-
But every time I see a child die,
my mind is consumed by disgust and despair,
and I wonder if bringing more children into this world
was a decision I could still consider fair.
